blue is how i know you (Illographo Press, 2025)

Blue appears in many forms; the shared colour of eyes, a melancholy outlook on life, a place of significance, the rarity of connection and so on. It is the desperate truth of allowing yourself to be vulnerable during the tumultuous reality of feeling something. It is a depiction of what rots in your body and what is a perpetually raw wound.

“Blue eyes are a genetic mutation, something we’ve caught from another long ago. Thousands of us carrying the fault. I recognise the blue behind your eyes. A complementary colour to mine. Did you catch it from me? Is the hue contagious if you get too close?”

blue is how i know you features a unique blue-themed collection of Samantha’s poetry and delicate embroidery – both words and art printed in ocean blue ink on sandy white paper. The cover title is blind embossed on Adriatic coloured stock, inviting the reader to touch and feel the book to enhance their visual and emotional experience of the poems within.
